Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.


Author Guidelines

1. The Editorial of HANDEP accepts the manuscripts in the fields of history and culture both from the results of field research and literature.

2. The manuscripts are written in Indonesian Language using the Enhanced Spelling (Pedoman Umum Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia/PUEBI) or in English.

3. It must be original work and never published in other publications.

4. The accepted manuscript will go through the selection process.

5. The manuscripts received or rejected will be notified by email.

6. The title informs the core of the text.

7. Author's identity (name without title, name & address of the institution where the author works and personal e-mail address) is written under the title.

8. The manuscripts are written Indonesian Language minimum of 6500 words or in English minimum 7500 words. The writing form must be adjusted to the journal template (Guide Attached).

9. The titles are written in Indonesian and English Language (Times New Roman letters 16, Bold, space 1 and written in the capital letters. The title informs the core of the text). The English title is italic

10. The abstract contains a brief presentation of the writing containing the method problems and a brief description of the results obtained. Abstracts are written in 1 paragraph using Indonesian and English language with abstract lengths max 200 words, 1 space. The keywords are written under the abstract, in the form of a single word. The keywords listed are 3-5 words. Keywords must reflect the important elements in writing.

11. The manuscripts are presented in a systematically regularly manner as follows:

a. Introduction (Times New Roman 12, bold, capital, space 1) which contains the background, problems, objectives, scope, literature review / theoretical framework. The elements in the Introduction are implicit in the written text.

b. Methods (for research writing result). 

c. Results and Discussion (Times New Roman 12, bold, capital, space 1) which contains the results of the analysis / discussion of the data obtained. Posts in chapters can be accompanied by relevant tables, photos, images, graphics, schemes and maps. Results and Discussion are the results of analysis / discussion of the data obtained. The title of the section uses numbers 1,2,3 and so on.

d. Conclusion (Times New Roman 12, bold, capital, space 1).

e. Acknowledgement (optional)

f. Recommendation (optional)

g. Reference to book sources contains 50% of the last 10 years. While the use of archives for historical and cultural writing is adjusted to the temporal scope of the writing.

12. Refers in the body of writing are written using in notes based on ASA style (The American Sociological Association) for example (Scoot 1993:10). While the footnote (footnote) contains a description or explanation of the writing.

13. Posts in Chapter can be accompanied by the use of supporting elements such as tables, photos, images, graphics, schemes and relevant maps. The supporting elements are attempted in the form of a JPG. Information (name of image and source) is written in Times New Roman 10 and is placed under the image.

14. The source references in the article text are written by the ASA style. We highly recommended the author using reference management system (i.e., Mendeley).

a. Quotations in the form of direct or indirect quotes must include the source reference in the body of the writing (body note/in the note). The reference source of the quotation is written in the ASA style.

b. Footnotes only contain information needed to support the discussion in the body of the writing on the same page.

c. The bibliography is arranged based on the ASA style.

d. All references/source references in written texts must be listed in the Source List

16. If the manuscript is accepted, the author will be asked to send a biodata containing the name, place/date of birth, recent education, and place of employment, and 3 titles in the last 3 years (optional)

17. The Journals will appear as many as 2 numbers in each volume

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

With the receipt of the article by Editorial Board of Handep: Jurnal Sejarah dan Budaya and it was decided to be published, then the copyright regarding the article will be diverted to Handep: Jurnal Sejarah dan Budaya .

Handep: Jurnal Sejarah dan Budaya hold the copyright regarding all the published articles and has the right to multiply and distribute the article under a Creative Commons Attribution License
